Throughout the gallery's history, it has been invested in the under-represented voices within contemporary art practice, particularly that of queer and female artists. Historically, these voices have been consistently overshadowed and creating a space where artists can relate narratives of personal experience to significant social issues, art history and popular culture along with representing Scotland's contribution to the visual arts has been the gallery’s driving objective.
